About the Bachs The Bachs are a young pop-rock duo comprised of siblings Sebastian Abraham Bach (who shall be referred to henceforth as "S.A."; 21 years old) and Allison Jill Bach (more commonly, "Allie"; 15 years old). Their sadistic parents named firstborn son "Sebastian" in what could only logically be construed as an act of thoughtlessness, if not outright scorn. In 1989, at the tender age of five, S.A.'s future was devastated further by the widespread popularity of a hair metal band called Skid Row and its frontman "Sebastian Bach" (real name: Sebastian Bierk). The next year, S.A.'s recently rehabilitated parents Steve and Gretchen unceremoniously named his new sister "Allison." Lucky bitch. In the early 00's, finally out of therapy and able to function but still somewhat dazed, S.A. decided to form a rock band. Lacking friends or social graces of any kind, he enlisted his much more normal and well-adjusted sister Allie to play bass and sing backups. Having no better ideas, they called themselves The Bachs. Inexplicably, they were really good. Over a few years and a couple hundred songs, really good became really great, which has ultimately turned into really awesome. Songwriting and performing have provided a healthy outlet for S.A.'s elevated emotions and bizarre obsessions, as is evidenced by quirky anthems such as "This Is The Shit" and "Parasitic Twin." The duo's complementary styles have coalesced into a unique stew of indie-pop/alt-rock-immediately catchy melodies married seamlessly with lyrics that are deep, striking, and decidedly left of center without being too terribly opaque or pretentious. Serious music that doesn't take itself seriously. (Or maybe the other way around?) Eventually, The Bachs began to play concerts in and around their native Los Angeles, and soon even other people besides the band members themselves and their immediate family realized they were awesome. They've produced a couple demo CDs, including the brand new full-band full-length "Respect Your Youngers." A rotating cast of drummers and auxiliary guitarists rounds out the group. His own music career in shambles, a desperate Steve Bach often sits in on keyboards. |
